Florentino Pérez has been working for weeks to complete the renovation of one of the heavyweights of the Madrid wardrobe, but so far without success. Although the president of the club wants to renew at all costs, the deal is not yet closed. It's about the midfield superstar, Luka Modric. The club has offered the player a new contract for one season, the same as with all footballers who are over thirty years old in the galaxies, but this proposal does not seem to have pleased the Croatian.
The midfielder still feels he is an important player at Real Madrid, despite his age. The footballer is already 36 years old, but with his football and physique he is constantly showing that he has the right level to continue to be a starter in Madrid. At the same time, the coach Carlo Ancelotti there is still maximum confidence in the player.
The new short-term contract that is being proposed does not convince Modric at all. He would minimally want a contract for another 2 seasons, without changing the financial terms, but Florentino Pérez is skeptical in this part. This could lead to another departure like that of Sergio Ramos, who like Modric, was offered a one-season contract renewal. In the end the Spaniard refused, negotiations ended, and he signed for PSG.
Seeing that the renewal with Real Madrid has remained pending, Modric agents are considering other alternatives. The Croatian midfielder is not interested in potential offers from Newcastle United or his former team, Tottenahm. But the Croatian could consider signing Pep Guardiola with Manchester City. Unofficial sources close to the player, suggest that Modric intrigues a return to the Premier League. If the Croat does not find common ground with President Perez, Pep Guardiola's "citizens" are the first option on the list that Modric will pursue.
