Chelsea has made a very important move in this market, as it has signed for 7 and a half years with the talented defender of Monaco, Benoit Badiashile. The latter spent 5 seasons in Ligue 1, registering 135 appearances in the championship with Monaco. The player also made his debut with the French national team, and is one of the most promising names in the "turkeys" team.
After making the news official, Badiashile told the media:
"I am very happy to be part of Chelsea. I am excited to start playing for this club. I can't wait to see the fans and start playing in the best championship in the world."
The French defender has also made his Champions League and Europa League debuts with Monaco. Chelsea president Todd Boehly also expressed his delight at the arrival of Benoit Badiashile at Stamford Bridge. Boehly commented:
"We are delighted to welcome Benoit to Chelsea. He is an excellent young player who has built a strong reputation for himself and a lot of experience at a young age. We are sure that he will be an important part of our team in the coming years."
The transfer of the 21-year-old has cost the London club a total of 35 million pounds. This was the second approach for Chelsea this January, after the transfer of David Datro Fofana from the Molde team, another very promising player for the future.
Chelsea are currently going through a difficult period, as coach Graham Potter's men are in 10th place in the overall Premier League standings. The main reason for the poor performances have been the absences in important departments of the field. Among the injured in the Blues camp are: Wesley Fofana, Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
