Mason Greenwood is getting closer and closer to finally leaving Manchester United. The striker announced via social networks last week that he will leave Getafe, after a successful season on loan from the "Red Devils". Greenwood is not expected to return to Old Trafford, as from the English club there is no sign that indicates a desire for the player to return to the team. But what could be Greenwood's next destination?
The player was initially rumored for a possible move to Barcelona, but following the departure of coach Xavi, the Catalan club's plans to bring Greenwood to Camp Nou appear to have stalled. The destination that is already in the main attention of the Englishman is Juventus. The Italian giants have been interested in Greenwood's services since last year, and have sent representatives several times to watch the player on the pitch.
Meanwhile, in addition to Juventus, Greenwood has attracted the attention of Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. The German club is expected to make a decision next week on whether to launch an official bid for the striker. The club's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, was asked by the media about interest in Greenwood, but Kehl declined to comment at this point in the season. Atletico, on the other hand, have not yet decided whether they will seriously pursue Greenwood this summer.
The Englishman scored 8 goals for Getafe last season, and was named the team's best player. His ambition is to return to the English national football team, but Greenwood is still a long way from his goal. Coach Southgate has already chosen the group that will participate in this year's European and Greenwood is not part of it.
