Manchester United are trying to thwart Newcastle in their bid to sign £70m-rated RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The RB Leipzig star has held talks with the Magpies over a verbal agreement.
Reports suggest Manchester United are in talks with Sesko's representatives, leaving the decision-making position in the hands of him and his agents. Leipzig want £70m for the 22-year-old, who has already made 41 appearances for Slovenia.
Sesko, who signed for RB Salzburg in 2023, has made 87 appearances for Leipzig, including in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Manchester United have already invested in new attacking players, bringing in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined fee of £133.5m.
Newcastle are looking for a replacement for striker Alexander Isak, who is reportedly keen to leave the club this summer. He is currently missing the club's pre-season tour due to a "minor" thigh injury.
Benjamin Sesko is a player with great potential and is considered one of the most prominent names in European football. He has shown his strength and speed on the European tour, attracting the attention of big clubs. However, it remains to be seen whether he will accept a move to the Premier League this summer.
