Brentford are facing a transfer battle with Manchester United for youngster Idrissa Gueye. After losing out on striker Bryan Mbeumo in a £71m deal, the Bees are trying to secure the 18-year-old from Metz.
New Brentford manager Keith Andrews believes he can capitalise on the situation by bringing Gueye to the club. He had thought he would only have Southampton as rivals for his signature, but now Manchester United and Burnley have entered the race, along with Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
The fierce competition has forced Brentford's board to consider whether to meet the £15m asking price set by the French club. Brentford could offer Idrissa Gueye a chance to play in the Premier League, while United see him as a long-term project.
Idrissa Gueye joined Metz from Senegalese club Génération Foot in January, making his debut in a goalless draw with Lorient. He scored his first goal in a 3-1 win over Paris FC, but the celebration ended in hospital after a tooth injury after a collision with another player. The player was part of the Senegal national team's squad for the victory over England, which was the Three Lions' first defeat under coach Thomas Tuchel.
