Manchester United are on alert as Everton are set to lose Jarrad Branthwaite this summer. Everton are preparing for a major summer rebuild at the end of the season, with just 11 senior players currently under contract for next season. While defender Branthwaite has a deal until 2027, with an option to extend for a further year, key figures at Goodison Park have already accepted that he will be leaving.
Manchester United failed in a bid to sign the player this summer, with SunSport reporting that Everton had a sizeable bid rejected by a Premier League rival on the final day of the January transfer window. It is hoped that the Red Devils will bounce back this summer as they build a squad that can play to Ruben Amoriti's style, with Everton's valuation of the player exceeding £50m. However, Manchester United will not be alone in the race. Tottenham have previously expressed an interest in the 22-year-old striker and could make a move if Cristian Romero leaves this summer.
With Branthwaite expected to leave and a number of figures out of contract at the end of the season, David Moyes knows he has a tumultuous summer ahead of him. Everton are expected to be one of the most active clubs in the transfer window and could need up to eight new signings to strengthen their squad for their first season at their new home, Bramley Moore Dock.
Moyes recently offered a strong response to suggestions that Branthwaite should leave to give himself a chance to secure a place in the England squad, as per Thomas Tuchel's instructions. The Everton boss mentioned Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Joleon Lescott who have all been capped by England, despite playing for Everton. However, despite Moyes' hope that Branthwaite will remain on Merseyside, Everton's board have admitted that his future lies elsewhere.
