Alejandro Garnacho has been declared an "unsuitable player" by Manchester United and the club have decided to sell him this summer. The Argentine striker had a falling out with manager Ruben Amorim, who left him on the bench for the Europa League final against Tottenham, and Garnacho subsequently publicly criticised his decision.
The board, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is furious with Garnacho's behaviour. Ratcliffe is even willing to lower the asking price for his card in order to get the player out as soon as possible. Garnacho is valued at £60 million by the English club, but due to the conflict with the coach and the desire to be released from his contract, United could also accept an offer of around £45 million.
This sale would help the club's budget due to financial fair play rules, as Alejandro Garnacho is an academy product, having arrived from Atletico Madrid as a 17-year-old in 2020. While United has yet to comment on a photo of him wearing an Aston Villa shirt, with the name Marcus Rashford, while on holiday in Ibiza, in private conversations it is learned that the club's leaders are determined to immediately remove the Argentine.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is also looking for a new club this summer. United are asking around £40m for the England international, but his £300,000-a-week wages have deterred potential suitors. Rashford spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, and could now be forced to return to another club on loan unless a permanent sale is agreed by United.
With Alejandro Garnacho and Rashford set to leave, Manchester United are looking to raise funds for new signings under manager Ruben Amorim, taking advantage of next season.
