Liverpool are preparing for a summer transfer window with a budget of over £300m. After signing Florian Wirtz for a Premier League record fee of £126m, the club are now targeting Paris Saint-Germain striker Bradley Barcola for around £100m.
Barcola, 22, a £38m signing from Lyon in 2023, has fallen out of favour at PSG. He came off the bench in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan, coming on in the 67th minute and providing an assist for the final goal. That makes him an interesting target for Liverpool, who appear ready to capitalise on the momentum.
Meanwhile, the Reds are continuing to monitor Newcastle's Alexander Isak, but will not make a bid if the English club demand £150m. In that case, Barcola is the perfect alternative for the reigning English champions.
Manchester City have already completed a number of signings: defender Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen for £29.5m, and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for more than £40m. Along with Wirtz, Mo Salah and the talented Barcola, Liverpool will have a full and dangerous attacking line-up.
To fund these transfers, Liverpool plan to sell striker Darwin Nunez, who has failed to be consistent during his time at Anfield. The club will also consider offers for Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota, who failed to secure a regular place in Arne Slot's side last season.
With this strategy, Liverpool aims to rebuild their attack by combining Salah's experience with Wirtz's speed and Barcola's physical strength. This is an ambitious plan, which shows the club's determination to restore Liverpool to the highest levels, and to win trophies in the coming seasons.
