Liverpool have agreed a world-record fee of £125m to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. Sources close to the deal have confirmed that a deal has been reached for the Swede to move to Anfield. Newcastle claim the deal could be worth up to £130m with bonuses.
Alexander Isak is expected to undergo a medical on Monday before signing a six-year contract. Liverpool had an initial bid of £110m rejected in August but now look set to secure their top summer target.
The deal for the 25-year-old looks set to be completed on the final day of the transfer window, following the signing of striker Nick Woltemade from Newcastle last week. Isak's arrival would cap a summer in which Liverpool have already spent a club-record fee, signing German midfielder Florian Wirtz for £100m, plus a further £16m in add-ons.
After Isak's signing, Liverpool's total spending will reach around £416.2m, making it the highest in Premier League history. It will be the second time an English club has spent more than £400m in a summer, after Chelsea spent £401.2m in 2023. Liverpool are also working on signing England defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, the departures of Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and others have recovered around £190m for the club.
Alexander Isak, who joined Newcastle for £60m from Real Sociedad in 2022, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season and helped the club win the Carabao Cup, also finishing in the Champions League.
