Manchester City are set to suffer a huge financial blow for England international Jack Grealish. The Premier League giants have set a staggering £40m price tag for the England striker, just three years after signing him for a then-world record £100m from Aston Villa. At the time, it was the highest fee ever paid for a Premier League player.
Guardiola spoke to the media:
"The only reason he (Jack Grealish) didn't play was me, not because he was unfit or anything. I want the best for Jack, his partner, his children, his family."
He stressed that there was no doubt about Jack Grealish's qualities, which have always been there. Despite his lack of minutes on the pitch, there is strong interest in him, especially at this low price. Tottenham, Newcastle and Serie A champions Napoli are said to be monitoring his situation.
A return to Aston Villa, his beloved club, could also be on the horizon for Jack Grealish. However, his £300,000-a-week wage makes such a move difficult. With a contract with Man City until 2027, he is willing to wait as long as possible.
