After the presentation as the new coach of Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany said that he feels at home at Bayern. The Belgian technician has signed a 3-year contract with the German giants, replacing Thomas Tuchel at the head of the bench. Despite Kompany's failure to save Burnley from relegation to the Premier League, it seems that this has not affected the decision of the Bayern board to entrust the Belgian with the management of the club.
Kompany spoke to the media in his first official communication as coach of Bayern Munich:
"My mentality is that I have never worked for a small club. I think an environment it creates makes a great club. It's the mindset you have in relation to your work in good and bad times that defines working at a high level. I feel at home here..."
Kompany began his coaching career with Anderlecht in Belgium, the club where he started his playing career. At the end of his first season with Anderlecht, Kompany left to start a new chapter of his career in charge of Burnley. The Belgian coach managed to lead the English to the Championship title, securing a ticket to play in the Premier League next season. However, Kompany was unable to prevent Burnley's relegation this season.
Meanwhile, as for Bayern Munich, the Germans ended this season in third place in the Bundesliga, a full 18 points away from the champions of Bayer Leverkusen. This was the first time since the 2011-2012 season that Bayern ended the year without a trophy. Kompany expressed his determination to get Bayern back on the road to major trophies.
