The Everton team is very close to formalizing the agreements with Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, and Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Townsend is expected to join Everton on a zero-sum basis after his contract with Palace expired in June. The 30-year-old is expected to play a very important role in the team already led by Rafael Benitez. That's after Theo Walcott joined Southampton, leaving Everton looking for a striker to fill the gaps.
Townsend, who has made a total of 13 appearances for the English national team, has also been active with Tottenham, QPR and Newcastle. The footballer joined Palace in 2016, and last season made 36 appearances under Roy Hodgson, scoring just 1 goal. However, with his game, the player helped Crystal Palace to rank 14th in the Premier League last season. The new chapter with Everton is expected to open new doors for the player, who in all likelihood will have greater responsibilities on the offensive line.
As for Asmir Begovic, the 34-year-old will be Everton's plan B at the gate, in case Jordan Pickford is not available. The former Stoke and Chelsea goalkeeper has all the right experience to handle top level matches, such as those of Premier League. His approach came as a necessity, following the return of Robin Olsen to the Roma club, who had loaned him to Everton.
Begovic signed with Bournemouth in 2017 leaving Chelsea, and still has a 1 year contract with his existing club. He made 51 appearances last season for his club, reaching the playoff semi-finals of the Championship. Anyway, his team was defeated by the Brentford team.
