Everton are keeping a close eye on striker Nicolas Jackson, who is on loan at Bayern Munich from Chelsea. Sources report that Bayern are increasingly unsure about activating their £70m option to buy him permanently and could allow him to return to Chelsea.
However, Bayern have held talks with Chelsea to negotiate a lower fee to bring the striker to Munich permanently. As a result, David Moyes' side are now in the running for Jackson, who is considered a Moyes-type striker, with the physique and movement that give him the ability to lead the attack.
Everton are determined to sign a striker in the January transfer window and are closely monitoring both Jackson and Ivan Toney for potential moves. Since joining Bayern Munich from Chelsea, Jackson has scored two goals and provided one assist in 10 appearances in all competitions. He has suggested he wants to stay at Bayern, saying he feels "at home" and is "very happy" after leaving Stamford Bridge.
However, with Bayern reportedly reviewing plans for a permanent move, Everton could try to lure the striker to the Dickinson Hill Stadium. Moyes is concerned about Beto's form, while Thierno Barry has struggled to impress since joining in the summer, so an ambitious move for a new striker could be on the horizon.
In addition to Jackson, Everton are also interested in Ivan Toney, who could leave Al-Ahli on loan to return to the Premier League and boost his chances of a return to the England squad. Moyes has spoken highly of Toney, calling him "really intelligent" and insisting he has "a lot of good things as a footballer."
