Former Liverpool legend and English national team player, Michael Owen, has publicly announced his favorite players, for the attack line of the "3 Lions" in Euro 2020. With the high number of players available in the offensive department, the attack is perhaps the biggest dilemma of the national team coach himself, Gareth Southgate. The English will face Croatia on 13 June. The Southgate trustees will then face Scotland and the Czech Republic.
According to Owen, a good attacking lineup would include Jack Grealish as the classic player with the number 10. Then Raheem Sterling is positioned on the left, while Phil Foden on the right. At the top of the attack, Owen's favorite remains Harry Kane, just like Southgate coach.
Michael Owen told the media:
"I think the national team (England) will play with 4 players in defense, 2 midfielders eg Rice and Henderson if he is in shape, and then there will be 3 players who will support Kane in attack. You can list so many names, Rashford, Foden, Grealish, Maddison, Sancho is also an alternative. If I had to choose I would go with Grealish like number 10, Foden on the right, Sterling on the left, and maybe Rashford in the center to add to Kane's attacking impact. "I think Rashford's speed will be very important for the team."
As for the other positions, Owen is confident that Southgate will select players who have been consistently active in recent games. According to him Gareth will trust the Pickford gate despite recent concerns. Owen also thinks Reece James is the player with the highest probability of playing in the right-back position. Anyway, for the official formations we still have to wait, as nothing is 100% safe.
