Italy started European 2020 with a clear 3-0 victory against Turkey, which, for sure, has delighted all Italian fans immensely. The team i Roberto Mancinit definitely got a well-deserved victory, as they dominated in every aspect the meeting over 90 minutes. However, Turkey led by Senol Gunes was quite "stubborn" making things difficult for the Italians, who took the lead, only in the 53rd minute with an own goal by Merih Demiral.
Despite the victory, the difficulty of the Italians to unlock the score earlier in the game, was something that was noticed throughout the first half. However the media have congratulated coach Mancini for the tactical strategy followed, which left very little room for the Turks to explore the opposing area and hit the gate. The number 1 of the "azure" bench said after the meeting:
"Italy wanted the victory and we won, it is a great pleasure for everyone. I hope there are many evenings like today. There are also 6 matches to reach the Wembly (final), and we must work hard to make this dream come true. We had help from the fans and the public, we played well and I am very pleased with the prudence of my boys in the first half. "
Mancini also faced criticism from fans and analysts for not activating Federico Chiesa as a starter in the Italian team. The coach's bold decision did not seem to have cost Italy, and fortunately for him, Chiesa had the chance to spend a few minutes as a substitute during the meeting with Turkey.
Now, the dilemma that remains to be discovered, is the strategy that Mancini will follow when faced with big names like England, Germany or France. In contrast to Turkey, the mentioned teams have a much stronger potential in attack. For this reason, in all likelihood, Italy will not have the same control of the green field as in the face of Turkey. However, the 3-0 victory is a "slap" for all skeptics who did not consider Mancini's team, among the contenders for the European title.
