Barcelona have identified Man City star Erling Haaland as the ideal long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, despite financial woes. Hansi Flick's side are in the market for a younger striker and would be keen to sign Haaland if he becomes available. However, Man City have no plans to lose Haaland, given his importance to Pep Guardiola's side.
Haaland signed a long-term contract with Man City in January, keeping him at the club until 2034, and a fee well in excess of £150m will be required to negotiate his future. He has also set a new record with Norway as the first player to score more than four goals in a match for his country.
Interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid in Haaland is very possible, but a deal seems almost impossible. Barcelona would need to sell several other players to finance such a deal, making it very difficult due to their financial problems. However, the situation could turn in favor of the Catalans, as happened with the approach of Marcus Rashford, who lost the trust of the hierarchy and the Manchester United coach, and became part of the Spaniards. This is thanks to his great desire to play at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have struggled to sign new players during the transfer window and adding another big star would cause more problems. However, Haaland remains one of the most sought-after players in European football, and would be a dream signing for many clubs, including Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether the Norwegian will be able to join Barcelona in the future.
