Chelsea talent, Levi Colwill, who is active on loan at Brighton, is still not known if he will return to Stamford Bridge in the new season. The defender had a fantastic year at Brighton, and the English media have often linked his name with a move away from Chelsea. However, it seems that new Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino sees the player in his plans.
But the situation remains complicated as Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi wants Colwill to play for Brighton again next season. The leaders of Chelsea, on the other hand, have proposed the player a contract renewal, but the latter requires a guarantee of minutes on the field from Pochettino, before signing, which has complicated the situation.
The Argentine coach will have plenty of options at the back next season, and Colwill does not want to be Pochettino's second option. Brighton, meanwhile, is reported to have made an offer of 40 million pounds, to finally buy the player's card, but Chelsea has rejected this proposal. Brighton leaders are also exploring the possibility of a player swap, bringing in Moises Caicedo, but Chelsea still remain skeptical and do not want to lose Colwill. This, despite the fact that Caicedo is one of the most promising players in the Premier League.
On the other hand, Liverpool and Manchester City have also been interested in the defender, but Chelsea have made it clear that the player is not for sale, cutting off talks. In an interview with the BBC, the defender was happy about the good season at Brighton, but emphasized that there is still a long way to go:
"I'm getting a lot of credit, but I still make mistakes that people don't notice... I know I can play a lot better and I still have a lot to do."
