Axel Disasi could be set to leave Chelsea after Bournemouth opened talks over a loan deal with an option to buy. Disasi has been in the shadows at Chelsea since Enzo Maresca took over, joining Aston Villa on loan in January but failing to make a lasting impression.
The Blues signed Disasi for £38.5m from Monaco in 2023, but he has made just 61 appearances since then and has failed to prove his worth under two different managers. Aston Villa fans have been clamouring for him to return to Chelsea after a difficult loan spell, and there seems little prospect of him returning under Maresca, especially after the arrival of Jorrel Hato this summer.
He was not in the squad for the Club World Cup and was not on the bench for the Premier League season opener against Crystal Palace. Now, Bournemouth have shown interest in offering a way out for Disasi from Chelsea. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Bournemouth have opened “club-to-club” talks with Chelsea for Disasi, with an initial loan deal and an option to buy.
Bournemouth have struggled to make any signings this summer, but the centre-back position is a priority following the arrival of Bafode Diakite from Lille. Manager Andoni Iraola has lost other key players such as Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi, making the move for Axel Disasi all the more necessary. The club need all the help they can get to secure his services, especially with the likes of Juventus, Newcastle and Villarreal also showing interest in him.
