The new coach of Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany, is looking for a defender and it seems that the Belgian technician has identified his favorite player. Kompany is looking to bring Liverpool backline ace Joe Gomez to the Allianz Arena. The latter had one of his best seasons with Liverpool last season, making 51 appearances. Good performances with "The Reds" made the defender return to the English national team, thus gaining the confidence of coach Southgate.
Kompany praises Gomez's ability to be active in different positions on the pitch, which the player has proven to the best of his ability this season, being active in central defence, on the wing and even in midfield on several occasions. However, it will not be easy for Kompany to bring the player to the Allianz Arena. Liverpool do not want to give up one of the best players. Moreover, the player's situation regarding his contract with the club is also not ideal for Bayern. Gomez signed a contract extension in 2022 and is expected to stay at Anfield until 2027.
Precisely for this reason, Bayern is also monitoring other players in the defense department. One of them is Chelsea's Levi Colwill. The English talent has an active contract with the London Blues until 2029, and for now wants to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, Bayern Munich is an opportunity that is hard to turn down. Another name that the leaders of the German club are monitoring is Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen. Tah impressed with his performances last season, winning the Bundesliga title as well as the German Cup. The defender may already have the opportunity to play with the biggest team in Germany.
