The leaders of Barcelona are considering the possibility of approaching Darwin Nunez to the Camp Nou, during the summer market. The Liverpool ace is seen as the perfect replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who could leave at the end of the season, to give the club more financial freedom.
According to La Liga obligations, the salary that Barcelona must pay to the entire team cannot exceed the figure of 174 million dollars per season. Robert Lewandowski is expected to earn around £27million next season, and the Polish striker is the player with the biggest contract at Camp Nou. This puts him at greater risk of being sacrificed by the club in the summer.
Nunez, on the other hand, is one of the highest paid players at Liverpool. However, compared to Robert Lewandowski, the Uruguayan earns about 1 quarter of what the Pole earns at Barcelona. This puts the Spanish club in a good financial position to negotiate with Nunez and Liverpool. At the moment the striker is happy at Anfield, and is not looking to move. But the media in Latin America have announced that the attacker is intrigued by the idea of playing for the Spanish giants.
We remember that Barcelona tried to make Nunez their own 3 years ago, when the player was part of Almeria. However, it was Benfica who managed to secure Darwin's signature, and then Liverpool. Nunez is the most expensive purchase in the history of "The Reds", full 85 million pounds. The player has an active contract with the club until 2028. However, the future is not certain for anyone at Anfield. The team's new coach, Arne Slott, will take charge of the bench at the end of this season and the summer market is expected to be accompanied by arrivals and departures at Anfield.
