Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has agreed to join PSG. This is the sensational news reported by the prestigious Foot Mercato in France. Sports journalist Santi Aouna was among the first to report that Dembele had become one of the Parisian club's main targets, and it appears that the deal is now very close to being finalised.
Before Aouna's report, L'Equipe also reported that Dembele had decided to leave Barcelona. According to the well-known portal, the player's decision came after he learned that Barcelona had offered PSG his and Gavi's card as part of a potential deal for Kylian Mbappe's card. Meanwhile, it has already been reported that Dembele will join PSG until 2028, having agreed personal terms with the club.
Now the transfer can be done quite easily, since PSG can activate the clause of 50 million euros for breaking Dembele's contract, which is relatively small. Another blow for the Spanish club is the fact that Dembele and his agent will benefit from almost half of this amount, should PSG decide to finalize the deal. This detail was foreseen in the new contract that Dembele signed with the Catalans in 2022.
Meanwhile, Joan Laporta's president is ready to "declare war" on PSG if the deal is finalised. Laporta claims that the French club has violated the rules of financial fair play. 7 years since Neymar's departure from Barcelona to PSG, the Parisians have acquired another superstar of the Spanish club. However, this time Barcelona is expected to benefit only 25 million euros from the operation. Translated differently, almost 10 times less than the amount benefited from the transfer of Neymar a few years ago. For the Brazilian, PSG paid a full 222 million euros.
