Arsenal have formalized the approach of the Belgian striker, Leandro Trossard from the Brighton team. Trossard will be part of the Londoners until 2027 and his contract provides for the possibility of renewal for 1 extra year. The player has scored 7 goals and recorded 3 assists in 16 games with Brighton this season. His card will cost Arsenal 21 million pounds. Coach Mikel Arteta confirmed Trossard's approach and appeared happy in front of the media. The Spaniard commented:
"He knows the championship here and I think he can have an immediate impact on the team. We are very happy that he is now part of the team. He is a player we have been following for a long time and now the opportunity has come...we need a player like that in attack who is versatile and can play in several positions."
Arteta added:
"We have to think in the short term, but also the medium and long term, and I think he (Trossard) offers us all. He is a very intelligent player. When you look at his career and what he has done in recent years, you realize that he is a player that fits our style of play…”
The Belgian striker has made his desire to leave Brighton clear as his final days at the club have been marred by controversy. It is learned that Trossard had a disagreement with coach Roberto de Zerbi and the pair could not find a common language. This news was confirmed by the footballer's agent, Josy Comhair.
In the 3-0 win over Liverpool Trossard was left out of the squad as punishment for leaving training early without permission. Now it remains to be seen how Tossard's new adventure at the Emirates will be.
