Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that defender Jeremie Frimpong will not be available for the club until after the international break due to a hamstring injury.
The situation will leave Liverpool without their new signing until after the break. Slot explained that Frimpong had reported discomfort in his thigh muscles during training, which forced the medical team to intervene.
The decision to immediately withdraw the player from training has been proven correct, as scans confirmed a strain that requires rest and rehabilitation. Although it is a blow to the team, Arne Slot stressed that the injury is not long-term.
Frimpong is expected to return to full fitness after the international break, allowing him to return to the squad for a busy run of fixtures, which include Premier League and European commitments. During that period, Liverpool will need to consider alternatives at left-back, with Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley likely to provide support.
Arne Slot added that Conor has trained for a few minutes with the team for the first time and that the medical team's decision to withdraw Frimpong has been deemed appropriate, as he will remain out until the end of the international break. For Liverpool fans, the priority remains that Frimpong does not aggravate the problem and returns stronger for the rest of the season.
