Al-Hilal are ready to make a bid for Mo Salah in January, following a shock statement from the player that Liverpool want to sell him. Salah, 33, harshly criticised the club and manager Arne Slot after the 3-3 draw with Leeds, the third consecutive game in which he started from the bench.
He accused Liverpool's board of breaking promises made when he signed a new two-year contract in April. In a statement, he said he had been "thrown under the bus" by Slot and the club's board.
Salah could play his last game for Liverpool against Brighton before joining Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations, and will not return until mid-January, when he could be transferred to the Middle East.
Saudi Pro League scouts have always been keen to bring in Salah, who is seen as the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo as the league's leading scorer. Al-Hilal, who signed Darwin Nunez from Liverpool last summer, are seen as the most likely team to make a move for the Egyptian. However, any deal would be well below the high bids Liverpool received two years ago, with demands reaching as high as £150m.
However, with Salah two years older and having made clear his dissatisfaction with Liverpool's staff, the Saudi clubs are confident they can negotiate a deal at a low price. Furthermore, Al-Hilal would need to offload one of their non-EU registered players to make room for Salah, as they are allowed to register up to eight non-EU internationals in their squad.
