Newcastle are ready to enter the race for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. The Magpies are considering a deal for Yoane Wissa after losing hope of signing Hugo Ekitike in the face of competition from Liverpool.
Brentford are ready to part ways with Wissa, depending on whether Manchester United manage to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with the two clubs still negotiating a transfer fee.
Wissa, 28, is keen to join Thomas Frank at Tottenham. He is also wanted by Nottingham Forest, who had a bid rejected outright last week, as well as another of £25m that was rejected in January.
Yoane Wissa had his most productive season under Frank in 2024/25, scoring 19 goals and providing four assists in the Premier League. Tottenham have already brought in Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel to bolster their attack, while talks over Morgan Gibbs-White have intensified. Wissa's signing would be the north London club's sixth of the summer.
Brentford value Yoane Wissa at £50m, and if that sum is met, it would surpass the record £40m they paid for Ivan Toney from Al Ahli last summer. Wissa's contract with Brentford expires in the summer of 2026, but there is an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
Newcastle's interest in the Congo international comes after reports that Liverpool are ready to offer £120m for Alexander Isak if he becomes available.
Newcastle are hoping to add attacking firepower to their squad, which scored 68 Premier League goals last season, behind Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal. Transfer news suggests Newcastle have also brought in Anthony Elanga and Antonio Cordero this summer.
