Tottenham Hotspur have held initial talks to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and are also interested in striker Yoane Wissa, who together scored 39 Premier League goals last season.
After appointing Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou's replacement, Spurs are keen to bring in the duo who have excelled under him. Mbeumo, 25, is also a target for Manchester United, who had a bid of up to £55m rejected last week. Brentford value the player at over £60m, but will not block a move if a deal is reached, with Mbeumo having shown interest in a move to Old Trafford.
The close relationship between Frank and Mbeumo, who joined Brentford in August 2019 for £5.8m, makes Tottenham optimistic about persuading the striker to change his mind. Another name on the radar is 28-year-old Yoane Wissa, who scored 19 league goals last season. Nottingham Forest tried to sign him in January and remain interested, but Brentford are demanding at least £40m, with an option to extend Wissa's contract for another year.
Frank left a warm message in his farewell:
"Brentford will always have a big part of my heart, not just in the football club but also in the community and loyal fans. My deepest thanks go to everyone who made this journey so memorable."
Brentford are considering outside candidates to replace Frank, although they have held talks with standard-scoring coach Keith Andrews, who despite his good reputation at the club is unlikely to take charge of the first team. This means Spurs will be competing for the attacking duo as Brentford begin their search for a new manager and consider offers for their attacking stars.
