Manchester United are ready to sell striker Rasmus Hojlund for £30m. The Danish striker scored twice against Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday. After the match, he spoke to reporters to express his desire to stay at United, although the club are interested in signing RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.
However, the situation is not that simple. Newcastle are also interested in Sesko, but have yet to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig for the 22-year-old. If Manchester United's management manage to bring Sesko to Old Trafford, Hojlund's departure looks even more likely.
Manchester United are waiting to decide their next steps, and it seems clear that Rasmus Hojlund prefers to stay at Old Trafford. United sources are clear that they can do a deal before selling players, however it is acknowledged that there will have to be departures to remain in line with Premier League profit and sustainability rules.
If Sesko arrives in Manchester, Rasmus Hojlund, even if he does not leave, will find it difficult to start in the new season. If Hojlund is sold for £30m, it would essentially be a loss for United, considering that his transfer value is £43m, and the player is two years into his five-year contract. United spent almost £130m this summer on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, to improve the situation in the attacking department.
