Wolverhampton Wanderers are stepping up their efforts to bring Harvey Elliott to Molineux in the summer transfer window, as they look to see if the Liverpool man would be ready for a new challenge. Manager Vitor Pereira is keen to modernise the squad for his first full season in charge and made his most expensive signing in January, bringing in defender Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims for £16.6m.
However, fears that Matheus Cunha could leave due to his £62.5m release clause have prompted the club to look for a potential replacement. In this context, Wolves want to start talks with Elliott's representatives to get an early signal whether the midfielder would be interested. Despite winning the Premier League title with Liverpool, Elliott has been a bit of a slob in manager Arne Slot's plans, and Molineux is seen as the place where he could have more space.
The midfielder has two years left on his contract, worth £40-a-week, and after starting just five games this season, contributing six goals, he needs more regular minutes. Pereira sees Elliott as a potential mainstay if Cunha leaves.
However, it won't be a cheap move, with Liverpool demanding up to £50m for the player. This means Wolves could be forced to make big sales in the next transfer window to make the move happen. If a deal is reached, Elliott could provide creativity and energy to Wolves' midfield, giving a new direction to the team and bolstering Pereira's ambitions for next season.
