Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has been unimpressed with striker Dominic Solanke during his time at the club. Sources within the team have revealed that Frank "does not prefer" the striker, whose transfer fee is estimated at around £60m.
Last season, Solanke was first choice under Ange Postecoglou, making 45 appearances and scoring 16 goals. However, the 28-year-old has struggled with injuries this season, playing just 49 minutes in total. Despite this, Frank has decided he wants a new striker.
Solanke recently underwent surgery on an ankle injury and is expected to be out for a long time. He has not played since Tottenham's 2-0 win over Manchester City on August 23. Since moving to north London from Bournemouth in the summer of 2024, Solanke has struggled with injury problems.
Tottenham and Frank could be looking to replace the former Chelsea and Liverpool striker during the January transfer window. However, sources have indicated that it will be difficult to secure a striker in this period, given the lack of opportunities due to injuries and the poor form of the current players. Frank could be forced to use the current squad, rather than rely on new reinforcements.
