Following the signings of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool have now turned their attention to talks over new contracts for Ibrahima Konaté, Luis DÃaz and Diogo Jota. Their Anfield futures also look set to be decided very soon. All three players have been linked with moves this summer, so talks are set to take place to determine their fate.
Luis DÃaz and Diogo Jota have attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Professional League, with their futures remaining unclear. Liverpool held initial contract discussions with them last year, but new talks will take place in the final stages of the season to decide whether they will renew or leave for a new adventure.
Liverpool will hold final talks with DÃaz, as Barcelona continue to monitor him closely, with the club initially delaying negotiations to focus resources on Salah and van Dijk's renewals. For Jota, initial talks failed to materialise, and ongoing injury problems have left the club with a predisposition to allow him to leave this summer.
Ibrahima Konaté is seen as a long-term asset and Liverpool intend to keep him, however if an agreement is not reached on a new contract before the current one expires in 2026, the club will not allow the player to leave for zero cost.
To cover any eventuality, Liverpool have identified Marc Guéhi and Dean Huijsen as potential central defenders ahead of the summer transfer window. With qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League and the high expectations of manager Arne Slot and the board, the club's hierarchy will move quickly to resolve the fate of DÃaz, Jota and Konaté, and lay the foundations for the reinforcements needed for next season.
