Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has been the subject of interest from Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, with Cunha seen as one of the most promising players in the Premier League.
At the moment, Aston Villa are the team that seems closest to making a concrete financial offer for the services of Matheus Cunha. However, Villa's management must first remove players from the team, in order to comply with the Premier League's financial fair play rules. Striker Jhon Duran has been the most talked about for a possible departure, to Saudi Arabia. West Ham were also interested in Duran's card, while the London club made a bid of 57 million pounds for his card, which was rejected. It remains to be seen whether Villa are willing to sell the Colombian striker, in the event of a better financial offer.
Wolves, on the other hand, do not want to lose Matheus Cunha and the club are involved in talks with the player to sign a new contract. There is optimism within the club that the Brazilian will renew, but this is not yet certain and Wolves' board must act as soon as possible.
Cunha currently has a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club, and Wolves are in a good negotiating position. The club have yet to identify a potential replacement should Cunha leave, which is another reason why Wolves are sceptical about letting Cunha go. However, it remains to be seen what the club's decision will be if a good financial offer comes knocking.
