Manchester United spent a lot during the last summer transfer window, but it seems that the Red Devils' big investments under Ruben Amorim are not over yet.
The English club are in the market for two key midfield signings next summer, with Elliot Anderson at the top of the list. Manager Ruben Amorim wants reinforcements in midfield as his number one priority to rebuild the squad, while Brighton's Carlos Baleba is another key transfer being considered by the board.
Brighton rebuffed United's recent interest in Anderson in the summer, but United remain interested, with the Cameroon international also keen on a move to Old Trafford. United's chiefs also see the Nottingham Forest man as a significant long-term target. He has the ability to play as a number six, and also as an attacking midfielder, offering flexibility for manager Amorim. That has seen United's chiefs ready to make every effort to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Anderson, 23, is attracting huge interest following his fine performances for club and country, and Forest know they face a fight to keep him. However, he is expected to cost less than the £100m Baleba is valued at, and as such, he is seen as a good investment opportunity.
Manchester United spent heavily on strikers last summer with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko, and are now ready to do the same for midfield as part of a long-term rebuild to support Amorim.
