Manchester United are planning to make a £60m bid for Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton. The club's chiefs believe an offer of this level would be enough to convince the Eagles to sell the in-demand player.
Last season, United failed to strengthen their midfield, despite it being one of their priorities. But they now have plans to do so ahead of next season, with the preferred combination of Amorim, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes under consideration this season. Amorim has kept a close eye on Wharton's progress at Selhurst Park and has become a big fan of the midfielder. The Portuguese coach believes the 21-year-old has the technical ability to make him a great success at United.
The report also suggests that Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro are set to leave Old Trafford. Mainoo has not made a single Premier League start this season and could join Napoli on loan in January, while Casemiro's contract expires next year.
Wharton is one of the Premier League's most sought-after talents after a remarkable rise over the past two years. He became one of Blackburn's key stars before joining Crystal Palace for £18m in February last year. He has adapted quickly to the Premier League and earned a place in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024.
The midfielder has earned a key role under manager Oliver Glasner at Palace, where they have enjoyed FA Cup success and qualified for European football. Wharton's reputation continues to grow.
