The coach of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, has said that being at the head of the bench of "The Reds" is not only valid in "sunny times". The German dismissed media reports that his side are on the decline, and vowed to fight to the end to get Liverpool back to their best form.
The English have qualified for the direct elimination stage of the Champions League and will play against Napoli on Tuesday, in the final meeting of the group stage. However, Klopp's men have struggled in the Premier League this season. The team has won only 4 of the first 12 meetings, and is currently in 9th place in the overall standings. Klopp commented on the situation:
"It is not something that is easily fixed, but we will not stop fighting. People look at me and say I look tired, but I'm not. I can't use that excuse. My job here is not just when the sun is shining and someone is giving us a trophy. My job is to be here even when we go through very difficult times, and I will do this with all my strength."
Klopp also clarified that a large part of Liverpool's difficult situation is also due to injuries:
"I think the judgment for this team should come later, or maybe at the end of the season. If you say 'that was the end' for this group of players and the coach I don't think it's 100% right at the moment because we haven't had them (players) available. We lack players, especially in attack, we lack quality and this does not help us. Even though it's not fair, it's okay... These are questions that are fair to ask, but we have to answer them later.”
