Darwin Nunez is pushing hard for a move to Napoli, according to sources close to Liverpool. The English club are willing to sell the striker this summer to fund the signing of a new finisher.
After winning the Serie A title, Napoli have become the main contenders to keep Nunez in Europe. The Uruguayan striker is believed to be keen to join Antonio Conte, who knows how to get the best out of attacking leaders.
In two seasons with Liverpool, Nunez has scored 40 goals and provided 26 assists in 143 appearances. His stats show an average of one goal every two games and one assist every four games. However, the Londoners paid him £85m from Benfica in June 2022 and are expected to demand at least £59m (€70m) for his card.
Darwin Nunez has been beloved by Anfield fans, who value his ability to wreak havoc on opposing defences. However, Arne Slott only started him in eight Premier League games last season, suggesting he sees him more as a supporting player than a leading striker.
Nunez's popularity has waned slightly with some supporters after a less than successful season, in which he scored just seven goals and was noted for his wastefulness in front of goal.
